Roof Thermal Imaging & Performance
When a roof has a leak, moisture seeps through and gets trapped inside the insulation layer of your roof. As your roof is heated during the day, these wet areas retain more heat than the rest of the dry insulation, and stay warmer for longer. It is this difference in temperature that can be detected by our infrared cameras.
Our Inframetrics and Flir thermal imaging cameras allow us to ‘see’ thermal anomalies – the areas where moisture is trapped. The roof survey is performed after sundown to allow the air and roof surface temperature to balance, making any thermal differences visible by infrared. If any suspected wet areas are identified, they are marked on the roof and roof cores are taken to verify our results. We’ll then plot the location of wet areas on a roof map so you have a complete picture of our findings, along with a recommended course of action.
